Events

There are a number of events which the Shire of Mount Magnet and the local community, work together to hold each year. Each event adds to the richness of community life and can also be enjoyed by visitors to town.

On April 25th each year, Mount Magnet stops to remember those who have served this country in times of war, particularly those from this community who selflessly gave their lives.

Mount Magnet Races - 28 April 2018

Mount Magnet Race Club hosts two meetings each year in Autumn and Spring, a full day of activities and entertainment. The Race Club runs a fully licensed bar on the day and two-up after the last race. The Mount Magnet Turf Club, located 2km north of town, was formed in 1896, establishing the foundation for what would become one of the most tenacious racing clubs in the country. Mother's Day 50+ Games Afternoon - 12 May 2018

Come along to the Recreation Centre on 12 May 2018 at 1.30pm and join us for a fun filled 50+ Games afternoon hosted by W.O.M.E.N Inc. 

To celebrate Mother's Day a High Tea will be on offer during the afternoon.

Mount Magnet Focus 2018 - 2 - 10 June 2018

Calling all landscape photographers, astro-photographers, drone operators as well as photographers who just want to experience photography in the outback. This event is for you. The GEM Camera Club has organised an exciting series of photographic events to be held in Mount Magnet and the surrounding area with all proceeds going to the Royal Flying Doctor Service and the local St John Ambulance Association. This eight-day event is fully supported by the Shire of Mount Magnet.

A number of professional run workshops, Photo shoots, Guided Street Walks and much more will be held during the week.

Ladies Day - 16 June 2018

Astro Rocks Fest 14 - 15 September 2018

Mount Magnet Gymkhana

The Gymkhana is held at the Mount Magnet Race Course, located on the north side of town. Events are for all levels of rider and include well contested blue ribbon events and some more novel fun events. Visitors are welcome to join the local community and support the riders at this truly outback event. Australia Day Celebrations - 26 January

The Shire of Mount Magnet hosts an Australia Day Celebration each year.  As well as celebrating Australia Day, a Citizenship ceremony is also held to welcome new Citizens and Citizens of the year are presented with their awards.

Nomination forms can be obtained from the Shire Office.
