Annual Events

There are a number of events which the Shire of Mount Magnet and the local community, work together to hold each year. Each event adds to the richness of community life and can also be enjoyed by visitors to town.

AUSTRALIA DAY CELEBRATIONS

The Shire of Mount Magnet hosts an Australia Day Celebration each year. For further information please contact the Mount Magnet Shire Office on (08) 9963 3000.

ANZAC Day

On April 25th each year, Mount Magnet stops to remember those who have served this country in times of war, particularly those from this community who selflessly gave their lives. Please re-visit this page for the 2016 Schedule of Events or call the Shire Administration Office on (08) 9963 3000.

Mount Magnet Races 9 September 2017

Mount Magnet Race Club hosts two meetings each year in Autumn and Spring, a full day of activities and entertainment. The Race Club runs a fully licensed bar on the day and two-up after the last race. The Mount Magnet Turf Club, located 2km north of town, was formed in 1896, establishing the foundation for what would become one of the most tenacious racing clubs in the country. Mount Magnet Gymkhana

The Gymkhana is held at the Mount Magnet Race Course, located on the north side of town. Events are for all levels of rider and include well contested blue ribbon events and some more novel fun events. Visitors are welcome to join the local community and support the riders at this truly outback event. Astro Rocks Fest 25 - 26 August 2017

This year, the amazing Astrofest evening will take place on the Friday night 25th August, followed by the fabulous Rocks Fest program on Saturday 26th August.

In keeping with this year's NAIDOC theme, "Our language matters" the Saturday morning events begin with celebrating 2017 NAIDOC Male Elder of the Year, Ollie George and his new Badimaya Story Book.
